Last will and testament; April 16 1938
I, Arnold Schoenberg, born September 13, 1874 to Vienna, citizen of Czekoslovakia, composer of music and Professor of music at University of California at Los Angeles, being first duly sworn, depose and say herewith that I feel to be in perfect control of my mental capacities and that I make this last will voluntarily and without being forced to do it. I order testamentary that after my death my wife Gertrud Schoenberg (her maiden name was Kolisch) shall be sole heiress of all my properties, whatever it might be, including all the claims deriving from my works and activities as a composer, writer, theorist and painter, whether such works are published or unpublished; including further the right to make independently every decision in questions deriving from these works and my position as an artist and composer. I have written his last will, and also signed it, by my own hands in presents of D. D. Ellis a notary public for Los Angeles County, State of California
