Text: [Arnold Schoenberg
116 N. Rockingham Avenue
Los Angeles] 49[, California]

August 12, 1950

Mr. Walter Hinrichsen
C.F. Peters Corporation
881 Seventh Ave.
New York 19, N.Y.

Dear Mr. Hinrichsen:
Under separate cover I have sent you a photostatic copy of Mr. Schoenberg's Violin Fantasy.
With best wishes from Mr. Schoenberg.
Sincerely yours,
Richard Hoffmann

Dear Mr. Hinrichsen:
In continuation of Mr. Hoffmann's letter, I want to tell you how glad I am that I can finally send you the Fantasy. Shall I also send you the two choruses?
Unfortunately I am not in the position to give to you and to Mrs. Hinrichsen, the original autograph. Years ago I have for practical reasons ceded all my possessions to my wife which includes all the manuscripts. Having not acquired a fortune during all my life, I had to insure the fortune of my wife and my children in this manner, knowing that they could, if necessary, sell these manuscripts for good prices.
You will understand that I could not abandon this plan.
No bad feelings I hope.
I am with cordial greetings
